This picture shows the eruption of a volcano, most likely Hasan DaÄŸ.

The origin of many city names such as Philedelphia, Paris, Antiokheia, Troy, and Europa in different parts of the world is Anatolia.

The oldest shipwreck in the world was unearthed in Ulu Burun, near KaÅŸ, by the group chaired by Don Frey.

Two of the seven wonders of the world are in Anatolia. Temple of Artemis in Ephesus,

Others: Egyptian Pyramids, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Statue of Zeus in Olympia, Rhodes Statue, Lantern built on Pharos island off Alexandria Harbor.

For the first time in history, Seljuks applied state insurance that covers the losses of the merchants.

Tulips were introduced to Holland by Ogier Ghiselin De Busbecq from Anatolia. De Busbecq was the ambassador of Charlaes V during the reign of Sultan Suleiman in 1554.

The place where Alexander the Great cut the Gordion knot is near Ankara. The double knot in Turkish rugs is called "Gördes Knot"; This term is the Turkicized form of the Gordian knot.

The world's first beauty contest was held in Kazdağı. The competitors in this contest, which Paris is the referee, are Aphrodite, Hera and Athena.

Many of the valuable finds from Anatolia can be seen in museums around the world. The Pergamon museum in Berlin contains the Zeus Altar, the gate of the Temple of Athena, Priene statues and the great Agora gate of Miletos. The British Museum is home to the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, the Mausoleion of Halicarnassus and the Harpy Monument of Xanthos.

The only place in the world where the sweetgum tree, which has been used as a medicine since the time of Hippocrates, is the village of Köyceğiz, which was used as a "love potion" and perfume by the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra in the past.

Sığla Forest parts, which continue to exist in Köyceğiz Region, are within the borders of Köyceğiz-Dalyan Special Environmental Protection Area, which has been declared as "Special Environmental Protection Area" according to the 9th article of the Environment Law No. 2872.

According to Nasreddin Hodja, the center of the world is Sivrihisar District of EskiÅŸehir.
